Inker-Artist Jagdish Kumar recently posted a page from his debut comic, "Meri Bhookh Mitao (Parmanu)," as well as a preview of his current project, to commemorate his two-decade career in comics. Kumar's inking has made an everlasting impression on readers worldwide, with a portfolio that includes Raj Comics as well as international collaborations with Top Cow Productions, Pocket Jacks Comics, CMON and other companies. Kumar's commitment to pushing artistic limits remains unwavering, and he promises more compelling stories, artworks in the future.

YDC Graphic Novel "Rakshak" film adaptation

One more Indian superhero movie on the cards. Graphic novel Rakshak that revolves around a vigilante Superhero to be made into a superhero franchise. Director Sanjay Gupta has acquired the rights and will direct it himself towards the end of 2020.

Cosplay scene in India

टेलीविजन, किताब, कॉमिक, एनिमेशन, वीडियो गेम जैसे माध्यमों के किसी चर्चित किरदार जैसा श्रृंगार और वेशभूषा अपनाने को कॉस्प्ले कहा जाता है। पिछले 4-5 वर्षों में भारतीय कॉस्प्ले कम्युनिटी काफी बड़ी हो गयी है। बड़े शहरों में कॉस्प्ले क्लब हैं, कुछ कॉसप्लेयर्स के प्रशंसकों की संख्या दस हज़ार पार कर चुकी है और तेज़ी से बढ़ती जा रही है। अब कॉमिक कॉन ही नहीं महानगरों में होने वाले कई आयोजनों में कॉस्प्ले कार्यक्रम, प्रतियोगिताएं शामिल की जाती हैं। कॉमिक कॉन में आने वाले कॉसप्लेयर्स की संख्या तो इतनी अधिक है कि फिल्म, कॉमिक्स, वीडियो गेम आदि श्रेणी के अनुसार अलग-अलग विजेता घोषित किये जाते हैं, वो भी कॉन के 3 दिनों में हर दिन अलग प्रतियोगिता। भारत में आयोजित कॉस्प्ले प्रतियोगिताओं को जीत कर समीर बुंदेला यू.एस.ए. और आकांक्षा सचान जापान में भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व कर चुके हैं। भारतीय कॉमिक किरदारों पर कॉस्प्ले की जो कुछ कोशिशें हुई वो तारीफ़ लायक थीं पर उनको निरंतर कॉसप्ले करने वाले प्रशंसकों ने नहीं किया था; इसलिए उन अच्छे प्रयासों में पूर्णता, गहन डिटेलिंग नहीं लगी। आगे हो सकता है विविधता खोजता कोई नामी कॉसप्लेयर किसी भारतीय सुपरहीरो का कॉसप्ले करे पर क्या उस से पहले इतनी बड़ी कम्युनिटी से एक प्रशंसक ऐसा कॉसप्ले नहीं कर सकता जिसे देख कर यह ना बोलना पड़े कि "चलो किसी ने इन किरदारों पर ट्राई तो किया, वैरी गुड!" बल्कि अपने-आप मुँह से निकले "अरी मईया री...देखो मुझे मौत आ गयी ये कॉस्प्ले देखकर!" है कोई इस चैलेंज को एक्सेप्ट करने वाला/वाली? :)

मित्रों जब मैं छोटा था तब मेरे पिताजी हर रविवार को दैनिक ट्रिब्यून अखबार लेकर आते थे। उस अखबार में एक 4 रविवारीय पृष्ठ होते थे। उन्ही में से एक पृष्ठ पर डायमण्ड कॉमिक्स के पात्र रमन की एक कहानी होती थी। कॉमिक्स से सर्वप्रथम परिचय मेरा इसी माध्यम से हुआ। हमारे परिवार में मेरे चाचा जी भी कॉमिक्स पढ़ते थे जो की आज भी मुझसे लेकर पढ़ते हैं। उन्ही की लाई हुई 2 कॉमिक्स घर पर पड़ी रहती थी जिनके नाम मुझे अबतक याद हैं दोनों मनोज कॉमिक्स थी। एक थी हवलदार बहादुर और चिन चिन पोटली और दूसरी थी अजगर का संसार।

मुझे आज भी याद है की जब अजगर का संसार कॉमिक्स के कवर पृष्ठ के अंदर की ओर टोटान की आगामी कॉमिक्स का कवर छपा होता था जिसमे टोटान को तो बांध रखा होता है और उसके सामने एक मकड़ी जैसा प्राणी होता है, ईसके अलावा और भी भुतहा चित्र होते हैं, उन चित्रों को जब भी मैं देखता था तब मुझे एक अलग ही दुनिया का, एक अलग ही संसार का अहसास होता था। यकीनन वो कॉमिक्स का ही संसार था, कॉमिक्स की ही दुनिया थी वो। उपरोक्त दोनों कॉमिक्स में से मैने हवलदार बहादुर और चिन चिन पोटली पढ़ी थी। उस कॉमिक्स की कहानी के मुख्य बिंदु आज भी मुझे याद हैं। बेदी जी द्वारा किया गया चित्रांकन, उटपटांग चेहरे और उन पर की गई अलग अलग रंगों से कलरिंग ने इस कदर दिलोदिमाग पर अपनी छाप छोड़ी थी की आज तक मैं उन्हें भूल नही पाया हूँ। मेरे कॉमिक्स प्रेम के प्रति मेरे घरवालों का जो नजरिया था वो बाकि कॉमिक्स प्रेमियों से अलग नही था। यानि की नजरिया नकारात्मक था। घरवालों की नजर में कॉमिक्स एक समय को बर्बाद करने वाली और पढ़ाई से दूर ले जाने वाली चीज थी। घरवालों के इसी नजरिये के कारण ही कई बार कॉमिक्स छुप कर पढ़नी पड़ती थी और छुपाकर रखनी पड़ती थी। कई बार घरवालों मेरी कई कॉमिक्स जब्त भी की जो की फिर कभी भी मुझे प्राप्त नही हुई। अब घरवालों का नजरिया पहले जैसा नही है यही कारण है मेरा कॉमिक्स कलेक्शन घर पर सुरक्षित है।

कॉमिक्स कलेक्शन की अगर बात की जाए तो बचपन में सिर्फ कॉमिक्स पढ़ने पर ही जोर दिया था मैने, क्योंकि उस समय उतने पैसे नही होते थे की अपना कलेक्शन किया जाए। फिर बीच में मैं कॉमिक्स से थोड़ा दूर हो गया था। 2014 में मैने कलेक्शन फिर से शुरू किया। मेरी पसन्दीदा कॉमिक्स कम्पनी की अगर बात की जाए तो मुझे अब तक प्रकाशित कॉमिक्स के आधार पर मनोज और राज ही सबसे अच्छी लगती हैं। राज कॉमिक्स को मैं पसन्द करता हूँ सुपरहीरोज, थ्रिल हॉरर सस्पेंस, जनरल कॉमिक्स के कारण और मनोज कॉमिक्स को उनकी नॉन हीरोज कहानियों और हवलदार बहादुर, क्रुकबांड आदि कॉमेडी करेक्टर्स के कारण। मेरे कॉमिक्स कलेक्शन में मुझे कॉमिक्स की संख्या तो पता नही है क्योंकि गिने हुये काफी दिन हो गए हैं फिर भी इतना मैं कह सकता हूँ की मेरे कलेक्शन में 1200 से ज़्यादा कॉमिक्स हैं। आज कॉमिक्स संस्कृति की जो हालत है वो उतनी अच्छी तो नही है जितनी पहले होती थी। पाठक बहुत कम हो गए हैं। बिक्री भी उसी अनुपात में घटी है। मनोज, तुलसी आदि कम्पनियाँ बन्द हो चुकी हैं। पाइरेसी ने भी कॉमिक्स इंडस्ट्री का काफी नुकसान किया है। कॉमिक्स संस्कृति के इस हाल के लिये कॉमिक्स कम्पनियों के मालिक लोग भी उत्तरदायी हैं जो वो समय के साथ नही चले। अगर समय के साथ वो कॉमिक्स को कागज के पन्नों से निकाल कर छोटे और बड़े पर्दे पर लेकर जाते तो कॉमिक्स संस्कृति की ये हालत नही होती। वैसे अभी भी देर नही हुई है। हमें आभारी होना चाहिये मित्रों राज कॉमिक्स का जो वो आज भी पाठकों की कम संख्या होने के बाद भी कॉमिक्स का प्रकाशन कर रहे हैं। और अब तो उन्होंने app बनाकर टेकनोलॉजी के साथ भी कदम मिलाकर चलना शुरू कर दिया है। जल्द ही YouTube पर हमें आदमखोर हत्यारा कॉमिक्स पर आधारित फ़िल्म आदमखोर भी देखने को मिलने वाली है। आशा करता हूँ की राज कॉमिक्स अपने इन प्रयासों से भारत में कॉमिक्स संस्कृति वही समृद्धि और वही लोकप्रियता दिलाने में सफल हो जाएगी जो कभी पहले होती थी, शायद समृद्धि और लोकप्रियता पहले से भी ज़्यादा हो जाए। हमे भी राज कॉमिक्स का सहयोग करना चाहिये। कॉमिक्स संस्कृति को समृद्ध बनाने के लिये हमे पाइरेसी का विरोध करना चाहिये और कॉमिक्स हमेशा खुद भी खरीद कर पढ़नी चाहिये और दूसरों को भी खरीद कर पढ़ने के लिये प्रेरित करना चाहिये।

24 अप्रैल 2016 को कॉमिक फैन फेस्ट इवेंट का पांचवा संस्करण कई यादगार पलों के साथ संपन्न हुआ। इस बार फेस्ट दिल्ली के साथ-साथ लखनऊ और हैदराबाद में भी मनाया गया। दिल्ली में मुख्य अथिति के रूप में प्रख्यात लेखक-कलाकार श्री बिमल चटर्जी ने आयोजन की शोभा बढ़ायी। आने वाले सदस्यों को कुछ उपहार भी वितरित किये गए। हैदराबाद आयोजन जयंत कुमार ने सम्भाला तो लखनऊ की ज़िम्मा मेरे हिस्से आया। हर बार की तरह इस आयोजन के ज़रिये कुछ नए कॉमिक प्रेमी मित्रों से मिलना हुआ। - मोहित शर्मा ज़हन

Flintlock Book 1

A regular comics anthology series with a difference - each issue will feature stories featuring a unique range of characters in an Eighteenth Century setting, co-existing in a shared historical timeline.

The Eighteenth Century (1701 to 1800) encompassed some of the most tumultuous changes in world history involving some of the of the richest personalities - and these will be the inspiration for the stories and characters that feature in Flintlock. The book will introduce us to ruthless highwaymen, fearsome pirates, noble samurai and mysterious law-enforcers - and each story will feature amazing artwork by some great comics talent.

This campaign is for the first 44 page book in the series that introduces some key characters to the Flintlock universe! (Target achieved)

The first is the title character Lady Flintlock, a very wicked lady with a supporting cast that each have their own secrets.  The art on Flintlock is by South Carolina artist Anthony Summey. He's drawn a fantastic 24 page story that not only introduces us to the Flintlock anthology's flagship character, but also sets things up nicely for more action and intrigue to come in future books (which are being planned for release twice a year).

In our second story we meet Shanti, the pirate queen of the Indian Ocean, with artwork by Italian artist Lorenzo Nicoletta.  Ruthless and beautiful, Shanti puts a new spin on the traditional pirate tropes - so anyone expecting a female Captain Jack may be in for a bit of a shock!
